ABOUT ATABOND

ATABOND® resins are always non-polar base polymers that are functionalized with maleic Anhydride in a grafting process. ATABOND resins are grafted with various levels of maleic anhydride in order to control their reactivity. Maleic anhydride is not corrosive, but introduces reactivity in the polymer chain and can be reactive with hydroxyl (-OH) and amino groups (-NH2). Depending on the area of application, ATABOND® resins are also referred to as coupling agents, adhesion promoters, compatibilizers or impact modifiers.

ATABOND® resins are used to improve:

  • adhesion of plastics to various subsrate such as AL, EVOH, PA, Epoxy
  • cohesion between a polymer and fillers (ATH, MDH, Wood, talc, mica, barite, etc.)
  • adhesion between polymer and glass fiber/carbonfiber/basaltfiber  in thermoplastics and composites
  • impact modification
ATABOND® resins allow the production of compounds with excellent mechanical and thermal properties in therms of tensile strength, tear strength and hot pressure resistance.
